In Conversation with: Ronald
“The Right Start”
A recurring feature every three months where we sit down with Ronald, Managing Director at T&S, to discuss topics that matter most to you. Whether you’re just beginning or have been working with us for a while, Ronald shares his experience, offers tips, and speaks candidly about the issues that affect you. This time, we’re talking about “The Right Start.”
What does T&S do to ensure that, from day one, flex workers arriving in the Netherlands feel warmly welcomed, safe, and well-supported?
Ronald: “At T&S, we know how crucial that first impression is: you leave your familiar surroundings to come and work in the Netherlands, and we make sure you feel welcome and supported from the very first day. Even during the recruitment process in your home country, we speak openly and honestly about the country, the region, your accommodation, and your future workplace so that there are no surprises.
Once you arrive, we create a safe and social environment both at the office and on the shop floor, so you quickly meet new colleagues and feel at home. We emphasize transparency: clear agreements about working hours, pay, and expectations provide peace of mind and certainty. But at T&S, it’s not only about work: from the moment you step into our office or one of our sites, we do everything we can to give you a social and secure environment. An environment where you can develop as a person, earn money through work, and also immerse yourself in Dutch culture and social activities.”
Which mistakes do you often see in the first few weeks, and how can we prevent them?
Ronald: “A common mistake in those initial weeks is that expectations aren’t aligned: you’re not exactly sure what we can offer you and what you can expect from us. That’s why, from the very first moment, we are honest and transparent and paint you as clear a picture as possible on all fronts. When that matches your needs, we see our cooperation become much more sustainable.”
Over your 15 years in the flex world, what key lessons have you learned about what works well in the start-up phase—for both the company and the flex worker?
Ronald: “In fifteen years of flex work, I’ve learned that success starts with ongoing, open communication. From the initial meeting and throughout your onboarding process, keep checking whether expectations align. That way, it’s always clear what tasks and responsibilities you have. By constantly staying in touch and being mindful of your well-being, we lay the foundation for a sustainable and enjoyable collaboration.”
What would you say makes T&S unique in how we support flex workers during their start-up phase?
Ronald: “What truly sets us apart in the staffing world is our people. Many of our employees were once flex workers themselves, so they know exactly what you’re going through and speak your language. We use their experience to support, motivate, and genuinely guide you from day one.”
What would you personally do if you had to start your first day today at a client’s site?
Ronald: “I would make sure that, from day one, I clearly understand what my colleagues and supervisor expect of me. I’d bring that up immediately to avoid any misunderstandings.”

We’ve recently added a new client to our portfolio who not only gives you the new opportunity to step into a leadership role, but may also offer you a permanent contract? Every working day is a chance to learn something new, grow, or try something different. In the next edition, Ronald will explore the theme: “Growing Together.”
