In Conversation with: Managing Director Ronald

“Growing together”

A recurring feature where we sit down with Ronald, Managing Director at T&S Flexwerk, to discuss topics that matter most to you. Whether you’re just beginning or have been working with us for a while, Ronald shares his experience, offers tips, and speaks candidly about the issues that impact your work and life. This time, we’re talking about “Growing together.”

Why is it important for T&S Flexwerk that flex workers get the chance to develop themselves?
“At T&S Flexwerk we believe it’s important that our flex workers can develop themselves. Work is a big and valuable part of life, and besides earning money it should also bring joy and satisfaction. That works best when people have the opportunity to learn new skills. Development doesn’t always have to mean moving up to another role; it can also be about gaining extra competencies in the warehouse, which makes the work more varied and employees more flexible. We’re happy to reward good performance with training, such as forklift or reach truck certificates, but also with language training or other learning programs. This way, our people grow not only in their work, but also personally.”

You often hear: “it’s just a temporary job.” How do you view that as Managing Director?
“I see that differently: it’s never just a temporary job. At that moment, it is the job where someone is fully committed to earn an income. We should be very aware of that, especially for people who come to the Netherlands from abroad. They leave a lot behind to build a new life here, whether temporarily or for the long term. Our role is to help them with that first step. And how wonderful is it when a temporary job can grow into a permanent contract, or even a whole new life in the Netherlands?”

Do you see examples at T&S Flexwerk of flex workers who have grown thanks to their hard work?
“There are countless examples at T&S Flexwerk of flex workers who have progressed. Some have developed new skills or completed training, others have earned a contract with the client thanks to their dedication. There are even people who have moved into a role at our office or have become a Team Lead at another client. Fortunately, we already have many success stories, but we aim for many more.”

What would you like to say to someone who thinks: ‘I’m only here to work, not to learn’?
“There are plenty of people who say that and that’s completely fine. Development doesn’t always mean moving to another job or stepping up. Even understanding and performing your own tasks better and better is a form of learning. Everyone is at a different point in their career and life. Sometimes it’s actually very valuable to have stability at work, so there’s space to focus on other things in life.”

How does T&S Flexwerk itself work on growth and development?
“Growth and development play an increasingly important role within T&S itself as well. We encourage colleagues to progress in their current role or to take a next step into another area. That’s why we support training and development: from junior to medior, from medior to senior. The team leads of tomorrow may already be working at T&S Flexwerk today.”
